‘Fast and Furious’: Indian car thieves resort to GPS ‘jammers’ to steal vehicles

New Delhi: Feeling safe knowing that your car has an inbuilt GPS tracker to locate it in the event of a carjacking? Well, think again.

In what appears to be taken straight out of the Fast and Furious franchise, car thieves in the city have resorted to using ‘GPS jammers’ to block the GPS tracker signal emanating from a vehicle.

Agents of the Anti-Auto Theft Squad suspect that these portable, battery-operated devices might also be used during a kidnapping or other crimes involving GPS-enabled taxis.
