What’s new: GNSS interference becoming a concern of insurance professionals, and hopefully the industry as a whole.
Why it’s important: Often things that are difficult for government regulators and safety professionals to accomplish are much easier for insurers to get done. They have the power of the purse and can require their clients to adhere to best practices or risk not being covered.
What else to know:
- GNSS interference has contributed to numerous maritime incidents including groundings, collisions, fires, pollution, and ships being seized for violating territorial seas.
- We have been hoping for quite a while the insurance industry would start getting involved in this issue.
