What We Do

The RNT Foundation is a member-based, non-profit1 that protects critical infrastructure by:

Educating the public and government leaders about the importance and vulnerabilities of navigation and timing systems,
Advocating for policies and systems to protect GPS/GNSS satellites, signals and users,
Encouraging development and implementation of resilient terrestrial systems

Memberships and donations fund our advocacy and outreach efforts including development of research and policy papers.

Membership and Participation Levels

Resilient navigation and timing is important to everyone. We welcome all individuals and organizations who support the foundation’s goals as members at the “Timekeeper” level.

For those who would like to support and help shape foundation policies and programs even more, our giving programs at the “Navigator,” “Founder” and “Harrison Society” levels provide those opportunities.

Timekeeper – Corporate Class 1 For Commercial Organizations with 500 or more employees. Timekeeper – Corporate Class 2 For Commercial Organization with less than 500 employees, Governmental Organizations or Non-governmental Organizations. Navigator Members supporting at the Navigator level contribute $5,000 a year and, in addition to the benefits received at the Timekeeper level, Navigators are presented an RNT plaque their first year, and receive invitations to the Navigators’ Forum. This forum advises and informs the foundation President & Executive Director on wide variety of industry & public issues. It meets over dinner 3 to 4 times per year, typically as a parallel, non-associated event to public navigation & timing conferences and meetings such as those held by ION and RIN. Founder Members supporting at the Founder level contribute $10,000 the first year and $5,000 each year thereafter. In addition to the benefits at the Navigator level, Founders are also invited to the Founder’s Advisory Council. The council advises the Board on foundation matters, especially policy & technical issues. It normally meets twice a year in the Washington, D.C. area, typically in conjunction with the National PNT Advisory Board meeting. Telephonic participation is permitted. Harrison Society Members of the Harrison Society are major donors that, in addition to the benefits at the Founder’s level, are also recognized as major sponsors on the foundation web site and at annual meetings. Depending upon the level of support, members of the Harrison Society may be entitled or invited to appoint a member to the foundation’s Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is the governing body for RNT Foundation, Inc. and is responsible for all programs, policy and administration. It meets about monthly in Northern Virginia. Telephonic participation is permitted. Parties interested in joining at the Harrison Society level should join at the Founder level and then contact the Foundation’s President directly. Reciprocal Non-Profit Membership The RNT Foundation may exchange memberships with other non-profit organizations on a no-cost basis. Contact the foundation president for more information.	Free	N/A

¹ We are incorporated as a Virginia non-profit, public benefit corporation, exempt from Federal income tax under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code as a charity. Dues and contributions to the foundation are generally deductible under section 170 of the code.
