Blog Editor’s Note: Last week we saw a notice that the UK Ministry of Defence would be doing jamming trials for the next several months.
Fortunately for users, the jamming is not going to exceed 2 minutes in length, and not more than 5 times an hour.
We asked if we could get a bit more info about the expected impacts beyond what was provided in the notice, and the nice folks at the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) provided this graphic which they describe as the worst case scenario for interference at various heights.
Also, thought it doesn’t say so in the notice, “electronic situational awareness devices” is aviation speak for “non-aviation certified GPS receivers.”
Thanks to the CAA for being so helpful!
