Sen. Cruz Discusses GPS Vulnerability & eLoran at Hearing

Yesterday, the 31st of October, saw the confirmation hearing for several nominees to senior posts at the Department of Transportation. One was Ms Diana Furchtgott-Roth who will have responsibility for leading the nation’s civil GPS program. She will also inherit the still existing  but unmet tasking from NSPD-39 to acquire a national backup capability for GPS.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Tx) discussed GPS vulnerabilities, previous problems, and eLoran with her, and asked about her willingness to lead a public-private-partnership solution.

The site the video is posted on does not allow us to link directly to the point in the video where Sen Cruz’ discussion and questions begin, but you can easily move the slider and find it at 1:31:50.  The video is here.

Senator Cruz is a conservative Republican, has represented Texas in the Senate for five years, and was a leading candidate for President in the last election.

What Can YOU Do? How Can YOU Help?

PNT is the quiet backbone of everything but too many leaders still don't see the risk.

But you do. You understand the systems, the dependencies, the failure chains. That insight is rare — and it's exactly what your country needs right now. Contact your government leaders and industry decision-makers and tell them resilient PNT isn't a feature — it's the foundation everything else depends on.
