Vulnerable GPSs on Israeli Army weapons could mean three-year delay – Danish Public Broadcasting

What’s new: Denmark bought weapons from Israel that have “civil” GPS built in. So, no M-code.

Why it’s important: Electronic warfare can easily and greatly degrade the effectiveness of such weapons, as the Russians have demonstrated in Ukraine.

What else to know:

  • We understand Denmark gave a lot of its weapons to Ukraine to fight the Russians and bought these replacements from Israel. – Kinda seems like the “no good deed goes unpunished” principle.
  • The article says it will take 3 years to “fix” the weapons. From other reports we understand the fix is M-code. We wonder if a MOSA-like system that can include non-GNSS signals might be better.

The army’s new artillery must have changed GPS – and this could cause major delays.

Parts of the controversial weapons systems from Israeli Elbit risk not being truly ready for use in the Army until three to four years later than planned – and potentially more expensive.

This is what a number of sources tell DR.

In the past month, according to DR’s information, the Danish Parliament’s defense spokespersons have been continuously informed about new problems with the weapons.

The Elbit systems consist of so-called self-propelled howitzers (cannons, ed.) of the Atmos type and rocket launchers called Puls. It is the Puls rocket launchers in particular that are causing problems.

What Can YOU Do? How Can YOU Help?

PNT is the quiet backbone of everything but too many leaders still don’t see the risk.

But you do. You understand the systems, the dependencies, the failure chains. That insight is rare — and it’s exactly what your country needs right now. Contact your government leaders and industry decision-makers and tell them resilient PNT isn’t a feature — it’s the foundation everything else depends on.
