What’s New: The Royal Institute of Navigation (RIN) has posted a series of tools to help explain PNT and the need for resilience to those outside the community, and to help organizations evaluate their readiness for GNSS disruptions. They are available from the RIN’s Resilient PNT Portal

The RIN recommends those in the PNT community working with customers, suppliers, and partners use these as tools for engagement with a PNT expert as a “guiding hand.”

Why It’s Important: PNT issues, especially regarding resilience, are not well understood by most. Communicating challenges, the need for awareness, and the need to prepare can be difficult. These tools can be a great help.

What Else to Know:

  • The tools were premiered at the RIN’s annual UK PNT Leadership Seminar on the 20th of November.
  • The new UK Minister of State for Science, Research and Innovation, Lord Patrick Vallance, opened the seminar and praised the RIN for this work.
  • As a “learned society,” the RIN has significant influence on government policy and direction.
  • The RIN sees these as a “phase 1 release.” Feedback on the tools is encouraged and should be sent to [email protected] The RIN team is eager to know what works, what could be improved, etc.

What Can YOU Do? How Can YOU Help?

PNT is the quiet backbone of everything but too many leaders still don’t see the risk.

But you do. You understand the systems, the dependencies, the failure chains. That insight is rare — and it’s exactly what your country needs right now. Contact your government leaders and industry decision-makers and tell them resilient PNT isn’t a feature — it’s the foundation everything else depends on.
