What’s new: The John A. Volpe National Transportation Center in Cambridge, MA, is seeking a Director to lead the Center for Infrastructure Systems and Technology within the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Research and Technology (OST-R).

Why it’s important: This is a critical role that oversees technical support of our nation’s infrastructure to maintain accurate and reliable PNT services. The Director oversees seven technical divisions and a diverse portfolio of approximately 166 projects, with an average annual obligation exceeding $81 million.

The Center’s work is foundational to the future of transportation safety and innovation, managing a federal staff of over 100 employees dedicated to advancing infrastructure systems. Given the intersection of uncrewed systems, automated technology, and resilient infrastructure, this position offers a unique platform to shape the next generation of transportation technology.
