What’s new: An announcement that the Civil GPS Service Interface Committee Meeting will be held in the spring next year in the Washington, DC area.

Why it’s important: This is usually a good forum to hear about updates to GPS and other PNT issues.

What else to know:

  • These meetings are required by law.
  • This event had been held at the same venue just before and in cooperation with ION’s GNSS+. We understand that administration policy has changed precluding this.

65th meeting of the U.S. Civil GPS Service Interface Committee (CGSIC)

All CGSIC:

The 65th meeting of the U.S. Government’s Civil GPS Service Interface Committee (CGSIC) will be hosted by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Positioning, Navigation, Timing (PNT) & Spectrum Management and the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Navigation Center (NAVCEN) in the Spring of 2026; meeting location will be finalized soon but will be located in the Washington, DC National Capital Region in a hybrid format. DOT serves as the civil lead for the Global Positioning System (GPS) and chairs the CGSIC in this capacity. NAVCEN fulfills duties as Deputy Chair and Executive Secretariat for the CGSIC.

Agendas for the CGSIC Subcommittee and Plenary sessions will include presentations on the operational status and modernization of the GPS constellation of satellites, U.S. space-based Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) national U.S. policy, GPS augmentation systems, information related to U.S. engagement with other international Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) as well as a variety of interesting applications and use of GPS.

The meeting will be conducted in a hybrid format. Links to the virtual attendance opportunity will be posted online and included in the agenda prior to the event.

Interested attendees will be required to register online to attend in person. A registration link will be provided in future announcements. Registration will not be required for online attendance.

An agenda for the 65th CGSIC meeting is in development and will be available at  GPS.gov: Civil GPS Service Interface Committee (CGSIC) in the coming months. As a reminder, all CGSIC meetings are free and open to the public so please consider attending for an interesting couple of days’ briefings on the U.S. civil GPS program.

What Can YOU Do? How Can YOU Help?

PNT is the quiet backbone of everything but too many leaders still don’t see the risk.

But you do. You understand the systems, the dependencies, the failure chains. That insight is rare — and it’s exactly what your country needs right now. Contact your government leaders and industry decision-makers and tell them resilient PNT isn’t a feature — it’s the foundation everything else depends on.
