US ITAR excluding CRPA antennas for PNT – as promised

September 11, 2025

Written by Editor

What’s new: As promised, the U.S. government is modifying export controls to allow CRPA antennas used for PNT to be more freely exported from the country.

Why it’s important: These kind of antennas can significantly reduce a receiver’s vulnerability to jamming and spoofing.

What else to know:

  • U.S. manufacturers have been unnecessarily hampered by this restriction for years. The slow speed of government review and processes, the lack of a sense of urgency, and the absence of energized senior champions contributed to many users being far more vulnerable for far longer than necessary. Not to mention the loss of business opportunities for U.S. companies.
  • CRPA’s are not a silver bullet. The weak and open nature of GNSS signals means there is no one solution. It is a problem that must be continually managed,
  • This change to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) addresses a number of issues in addition to CRPAs for PNT. Access the notice through the link below.

What Can YOU Do? How Can YOU Help?

PNT is the quiet backbone of everything but too many leaders still don’t see the risk.

But you do. You understand the systems, the dependencies, the failure chains. That insight is rare — and it’s exactly what your country needs right now. Contact your government leaders and industry decision-makers and tell them resilient PNT isn’t a feature — it’s the foundation everything else depends on.
