What’s new: U.S. Space Force expanding its ability to jam signals from space.
Why it’s important: It should remind us that signals from space are vulnerable and can be disrupted. – Yes all RF signals can be jammed, though usually it is easier if they are from space. And it is more likely if military organizations think the signals are valuable to their adversaries.
What else to know: When only a small handful of countries were able to put things in orbit, space was considered a safe haven for valuable national capabilities. It is still a great place for a lot of tech, but it is no longer a safe haven.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Space Force is preparing to hire contractors to maintain and support global deployments of as many as 56 satellite-jamming systems used to disrupt adversaries’ communications.
