What’s new: A Congressional hearing about PNT policy and backups.

Why it’s important: This hearing showed:

  • Congressional concern about the issue – always very important.
  • Significant concerns about NextNav’s proposal from all the members of the panel except for the NextNav CEO.
  • Judging by the questions from members of the committee, significant concerns on the part of Congress.

What else to know:

  • The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is still considering NextNav’s petition.
  • There were a number of comments and concerns from committee members who discussed about people being tracked and privacy concerns with future PNT systems.
  • The hearing went on for nearly 3.5 hours! That is a fairly long time and indicative of interest.
