What’s new: The Dept. of Transportation has announced the agenda for this year’s CGSIC Meeting.
Why it’s important: The department is required by law to convene an annual meeting to get input from civil GPS users. CGSIC = Civil GPS Service Interface Committee.
What else to know:
- Over the years the event has turned into a mini-conference. The last three speakers will be RNT Foundation President Dana A. Goward, Senior DOT Advisor Seval Oz who has been nominated to be DOT Asst Secretary, and DOT Deputy Secretary Bradbury.
- To attend in person at DOT headquarters you have to register in advance by the end of the day tomorrow.
- The meeting used to be held in conjunction with ION’s GNSS+ conference. A new government policy requires such meetings to be held in the DC area.
- The RNT Foundation will hold its annual reception and meeting nearby the evening of the 20th. Principal Deputy Asst. Sec. of Transportation for Research and Technology, Michael ‘Rocket’ Halem will give remarks and Asst. Secretary of War for Space Policy March Berkowitz has been invited to do the same. 65th Meeting of the Civil GPS Service Interface Committee

The 65th meeting of the U.S. Government’s Civil GPS Service Interface Committee (CGSIC) will be hosted by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Positioning, Navigation, Timing (PNT) & Spectrum Management and the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Navigation Center (NAVCEN). The meeting will be held on 20 & 21 April 2026 at the Department of Transportation Headquarters building in Washington, DC. DOT serves as the civil lead for the Global Positioning System (GPS) and chairs the CGSIC in this capacity. NAVCEN fulfills duties as Deputy Chair and Executive Secretariat for the CGSIC.
