What’s new: An American Security Project paper on how China uses space, including BeiDou, for influence/soft power.

Why it’s important:

  • As the U.S. greatly decreases it’s diplomatic/ soft power efforts around the world, it leaves a vacuum the Chinese can easily fill.
  • For space-based PNT this process has been going on since 2004 when America backed away from maintaining GPS as “the Gold Standard” for GNSS.

What else to know: This is the second paper on this topic we have highlighted on this blog. The first, and a longer work was from Harvard’s Belfer Center in 2023.

What Can YOU Do? How Can YOU Help?

PNT is the quiet backbone of everything but too many leaders still don't see the risk.

But you do. You understand the systems, the dependencies, the failure chains. That insight is rare — and it's exactly what your country needs right now. Contact your government leaders and industry decision-makers and tell them resilient PNT isn't a feature — it's the foundation everything else depends on.
