‘Only at the Highest Levels of Government’

‘Resilient PNT efforts suffer from the tragedy of the commons. Every government department and agency wants it, but each think it’s the responsibility of another. it can only be done at the highest levels of government and that’s what’s happening in the UK’

This was the message from RNTF Member and Advisory Committee Professor David Last. Professor Last spoke last week at the RNT Foundation annual meeting and presented to the US National PNT Advisory Board about the United Kingdom government’s efforts.

Professor Last also reviewed two major reports the UK government produced on the topic in less than 7 months; a report on the economic impact of GNSS disruptions and one on the nation’s dependence on satnav.

Perhaps most importantly, he reported the UK government was quickly and deliberately moving to address the problem.  He said that a high level group had been tasked and was reporting regularly to the UK National Security Council.

What Can YOU Do? How Can YOU Help?

PNT is the quiet backbone of everything but too many leaders still don’t see the risk.

But you do. You understand the systems, the dependencies, the failure chains. That insight is rare — and it’s exactly what your country needs right now. Contact your government leaders and industry decision-makers and tell them resilient PNT isn’t a feature — it’s the foundation everything else depends on.
