Blog Editor’s Note: In a very interesting presentation to the PNT Advisory Board recently, Mr. Ed Powers of the US Naval Observatory discussed several topics:

  • The importance of GPS time signals for numerous critical infrastructures
  • The history of precise time dissemination
  • Alternatives to GPS time
  • GPS Rollover Week Issues

This last item provided new information for many of the attendees about the possible failure of some receivers as they come the the end of the current GPS epoch in April of 2019.

See the presentation for more information.

What Can YOU Do? How Can YOU Help?

PNT is the quiet backbone of everything but too many leaders still don't see the risk.

But you do. You understand the systems, the dependencies, the failure chains. That insight is rare — and it's exactly what your country needs right now. Contact your government leaders and industry decision-makers and tell them resilient PNT isn't a feature — it's the foundation everything else depends on.
