What’s new: India is moving to join the list of nations deploying a clock and fiber-based timing network to provide a sovereign national “tech heartbeat.”

Why it’s important:

  • Time and/or timing is essential to virtually every technology. While many systems just require synchronization, there are benefits to being able to synch to a national time scale.
  • Many, many systems synch using vulnerable GNSS signals.

What else to know:

  • RNT Foundation recommends nations implement a combination of fiber-linked clocks and terrestrial broadcast to work with GNSS and other space-based systems.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi commissioned a White Rabbit Technology-based Indian Standard Time dissemination demonstration network at the Regional Reference Standards Laboratory in Jakkur, Bengaluru.

The initiative, implemented under the government’s ‘One Nation, One Time’ vision, marks a significant step towards establishing a uniform, highly precise and secure time standard across India.

The demonstration network enables secure dissemination of UTC-traceable Indian Standard Time using Precision Time Protocol-based White Rabbit technology.

What Can YOU Do? How Can YOU Help?

PNT is the quiet backbone of everything but too many leaders still don't see the risk.

But you do. You understand the systems, the dependencies, the failure chains. That insight is rare — and it's exactly what your country needs right now. Contact your government leaders and industry decision-makers and tell them resilient PNT isn't a feature — it's the foundation everything else depends on.
