Maritime & GNSS Professionals Invited to take Survey!
Please consider completing a survey for our colleague Gareth’s MSc dissertation. Also please circulate this to others whose work touches GNSS/PNT use or manufacturing.
Gareth is conducting a Master’s research study on GNSS dependency in modern maritime navigation, specifically how stakeholders perceive disruption risk and what mitigations are actually used day-to-day now that paper charts are declining. The aim is to identify practical capability gaps between assumed resilience and the lived operational reality, and translate them into realistic recommendations for training, guidance, and assurance.
He is inviting responses from maritime navigation stakeholders, including navigational officers, small craft operators, regulators/authorities, GNSS/PNT specialists, equipment vendors, and navigation lecturers/instructors. The survey combines short rating questions with a few open-ended prompts, so you can answer quickly while still describing what matters in practice.
It’s anonymous and online, and it should take about 30 minutes. Participation is voluntary; you can stop at any point before submitting. Because the survey is anonymous, responses can’t be withdrawn after submission. No sensitive or operationally identifying information is requested, and data will be stored in accordance with the University of Wolverhampton’s requirements.
If you have questions or want further details about the study and how the data is used, or to view the submitted proposal, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Gareth using the details below.
Thank you for considering it, and please pass it on to colleagues.
