What’s new: Candid discussion about the impact of GPS interference on aviation.
Why it’s important: The hosts are experienced instructor pilots with a lot of experience flying large passenger aircraft. It is hard to get more credible sources.
What else to know:
- Aviation concerns about interference in northern and eastern Europe continue to mount. See this recent report from OPSGROUP.
- Thanks to RIN Director Ramsey Faragher for posting this on his LinkdedIn and calling it to our attention. He makes a great point that 38 people died on the Azerbaijan Air flight because of GPS interference.
- The podcast is an hour long and after the intro, there is a good bit of personal chatter before they get to the meat of the discussion. However, here are some significant quotes from the intro portion of the video:
It has become more and more and more of a problem. It’s a little bit more sinister.
It’s basically a form of cyber attack on the aircraft.
It’s probably the top of the list of dangerous things that can happen to an airline pilot is when you start to ignore warnings.
And it can be dangerous. It’s already been dangerous, hasn’t it?
It can kill!
