What’s new: A representative from DLR at the Munich Satnav Summit describing German resilient PNT in terms of improvements to space-based services.

Why its important:

  • Sufficient PNT resilience requires diverse delivery methods, one of which can be via space-based signals.
  • We are pretty sure Germany is participating in NEAT-FT (Network for European Accurate Time and Frequency a fiber-based system.
  • We hope they are interested in other systems as well to form a resilient Core National PNT Architecture.

What else to know:

  • The speaker was from a space agency and at a space-based forum. it could be that he knew of non-space-based projects and simply did not mention them.
  • Or it could be the old “if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.” Especially if your job and/or bosses prevent you from looking outside your stovepipe for solutions. In other words, since he works in a space job, maybe he is only allowed to consider and discuss space-based solutions.

Germany Moving Towards More Resilient PNT

What Can YOU Do? How Can YOU Help?

PNT is the quiet backbone of everything but too many leaders still don’t see the risk.

But you do. You understand the systems, the dependencies, the failure chains. That insight is rare — and it’s exactly what your country needs right now. Contact your government leaders and industry decision-makers and tell them resilient PNT isn’t a feature — it’s the foundation everything else depends on.
