What’s new: The annual Munich Satellite Navigation Summit’s theme is “Resilient PNT – Backbone of Autonomy & Critical Infrastructure!”

Why it’s important:

  • This event and the European Navigation Conference are the two premier PNT events in Europe each year. And, of course, This year’s theme in Munich of Resilient PNT is exceptionally important.
  • This event also tends to include policy discussions. For example, we are always interested in the legal panel. This year it will be discussing issues around jamming and spoofing.

What else to know:

  • RNT Foundation President, Dana A. Goward will speak on a panel on the 27th of March.
  • RNTF Advisor Prof Todd Humphreys will chair a panel also on the 27th.
  • See the program for each day here.

“Resilient PNT – Backbone of Autonomy & Critical Infrastructure!” this will be the theme of the 2025 edition of the Munich Satellite Navigation Summit, taking place from March 26 -28, 2025!                              The registration opens on December 1, 2024.

Today PNT services from space are challenged from many directions. Jamming and spoofing events are at an all-time high, but also solar activity is at its maximum causing degraded navigation accuracy or malfunctioning systems in space and on earth. Whereas the everyday use of GNSS by smartphones is still perceived as perfectly normal, those challenges clearly impact operations of safety critical autonomous systems on land, at sea and in the air. The same is true for critical infrastructure depending on space based PNT and required to operate it. But with the help of modernized GNSS including possible support via LEO-PNT, terrestrial navigation systems or other sensors, GNSS will continue to provide reliable services from the Earth to the Moon’s surface.

What Can YOU Do? How Can YOU Help?

PNT is the quiet backbone of everything but too many leaders still don’t see the risk.

But you do. You understand the systems, the dependencies, the failure chains. That insight is rare — and it’s exactly what your country needs right now. Contact your government leaders and industry decision-makers and tell them resilient PNT isn’t a feature — it’s the foundation everything else depends on.
