United Kingdom Announces IOC for eLoran



The UK has been upgrading its Loran to eLoran for several years and today they announced Initial Operating Capability.

Note that while the press reports linked below mention South Korea developing an eLoran system (announcement of a contract to build the first phase is expected any day), no mention is made of the on-going efforts in Russia, China, India, or Saudi Arabia. Also, of interest, might be Iran’s announcement of a system that seems to be eLoran by another name – also available in our library and on earlier posts on our home page news feed.
