What’s New: Video of GEN Thompson’s remarks at the 23 April 2024 RNT Foundation reception in Colorado Springs

Why It’s Important: GEN Thompson, US Space Force (retired) has a long and deep history with GPS and the GPS community. He recognizes the fragility of the signals, threats to them, and advocates for use of other systems alongside and with GPS in what he calls “multi-nav.”

What Else to Know:

  • GEN Thompson was the fist Vice Chief of Space Operations, USSF and recently retired.  He speaks for about 20 minutes and then takes a few questions.
  • The reception was held the evening before the semi-annual meeting of the President’s National Space-based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing Advisory Board.
  •  Don’t be put off by Dana Goward’s cheesy joke to get reception-goers’ attention before he introduces the General.

What Can YOU Do? How Can YOU Help?

PNT is the quiet backbone of everything but too many leaders still don’t see the risk.

But you do. You understand the systems, the dependencies, the failure chains. That insight is rare — and it’s exactly what your country needs right now. Contact your government leaders and industry decision-makers and tell them resilient PNT isn’t a feature — it’s the foundation everything else depends on.
