Why It’s Important: We have put a lot of really important things in space. It is essential we understand the threats to them.
What Else to Know:
- The U.S. has far more satellites and is far more dependent on space than any other nations.
- Threats to space, therefore, are threats to the U.S.
- There are non-hostile threats to assets in space also. Things like severe solar weather, debris, and accidents.
- When we first started putting things in space they were in “a safe place” far from hostilities. The hostilities have now caught up.
