What’s New: US Department of Transportation is looking to pay providers to test and evaluate their complimentary PNT systems.

Why It’s Important: This could be another step in the nation’s slow progress toward a National Resilient PNT Architecture.

What Else to Know:

  • DOT did a PNT technology DEMONSTRATION during the pandemic and reported out on it in 2021.
  • Replies due by 25th of March.
  • As for the rest, we will let the DOT solicitation speak for itself. Check it out!

Complementary Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT)

Purpose:

This is a multiple award solicitation. The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) is planning a test, evaluation, and performance monitoring effort for positioning, navigation, and/or timing (PNT)‐dependent safety systems and critical infrastructure sectors. Taken together with efforts of other Federal partners through the executive branch interagency process, this initiative will enhance the resilience of the Nation’s PNT‐dependent systems by stimulating the implementation and adoption of technologically mature Complementary PNT (CPNT) services to achieve safer, more secure critical infrastructure for the Nation.

What Can YOU Do? How Can YOU Help?

PNT is the quiet backbone of everything but too many leaders still don’t see the risk.

But you do. You understand the systems, the dependencies, the failure chains. That insight is rare — and it’s exactly what your country needs right now. Contact your government leaders and industry decision-makers and tell them resilient PNT isn’t a feature — it’s the foundation everything else depends on.
