Smart Sky Networks hammered home two points at the PNT Advisory Board last week:

  • UAV/UAS and On Demand Mobility are on the verge of being huge social and economic enablers
  • They can’t do it with easily disrupted PNT signals

The United States has been a world leader in UAV/UAS regulation and certification for UAVs, the presentation said, and the nation is reaping the economic benefits.  Maintaining that leadership will depend on the nation Protecting, Toughening and Augmenting GPS/PNT, said Smart Sky.

“PNT resilience, robustness and security are vital to the emerging sectors, as well as existing Commercial, Business, Regional and General Aviation operations,” they said, urging the FAA, NASA, and DoD to help.

All of the threats to Unmanned Systems that the presentation lists are related to PNT:

What Can YOU Do? How Can YOU Help?

PNT is the quiet backbone of everything but too many leaders still don’t see the risk.

But you do. You understand the systems, the dependencies, the failure chains. That insight is rare — and it’s exactly what your country needs right now. Contact your government leaders and industry decision-makers and tell them resilient PNT isn’t a feature — it’s the foundation everything else depends on.
